Question

Jitesh and Kamal can complete a certain piece of work in 7 and 16 days, respectively. They started to work together, and after 2 days, Kamal left. In how many days will Jitesh complete the remaining work?

The correct answer is

23156

Jitesh's 1 day work = 1 ÷ 7, Kamal's 1 day work = 1 ÷ 16
Combined 1 day work = 1/7 + 1/16 = (16 + 7) ÷ 112 = 23/112
Work in 2 days = 2 × 23/112 = 46/112
Remaining work = 1 - 46/112 = 66/112
Time for Jitesh alone to complete = (66/112) ÷ (1/7) = (66/112) × 7 = 462/112 = 23156
