In which Indian state is the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located ?
Uttarakhand
The Valley of Flowers National Park is a high-altitude Himalayan valley known for its alpine meadows of endemic flowers, rare medicinal plants and fauna such as the snow leopard and Himalayan musk deer.
It lies in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, in the Western Himalaya, and was declared a national park in 1982. In 2005 UNESCO added it to the Nanda Devi National Park site, so the two together form the World Heritage Site ‘Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks’.
Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh are also Himalayan states with rich flora (Sikkim has Khangchendzonga and Himachal has the Great Himalayan National Park as World Heritage Sites), but the Valley of Flowers is not in any of them.
