Question

In this question, a question is followed by two statements numbered (I) and (II). You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and decide the appropriate answer.

Question:

Five projects – Orion, Nimbus, Vertex, Pulse and Zenith – were completed on different days from Monday to Friday of the same week. On which day was Pulse completed?

Statements:

(I) Pulse was completed one day before Zenith.

(II) Zenith was completed on Friday.

This question was previously asked in
RRB Technician 2026 Grade 3 Question Paper (7-Oct-2026) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

Both statements I and II together (and not statement I alone or statement II alone) are sufficient to answer the question.

Statement I alone: Pulse is one day before Zenith. The pair could be Mon–Tue, Tue–Wed, Wed–Thu or Thu–Fri, so Pulse's day is not fixed. Not sufficient.

Statement II alone: It fixes only Zenith on Friday and says nothing about Pulse. Not sufficient.

Both together: Zenith is on Friday and Pulse is one day before Zenith, so Pulse was completed on Thursday — a unique day.

Hence, both statements I and II together (and not statement I alone or statement II alone) are sufficient to answer the question.
