How has the World Bank defined extreme poverty?
People who live in less than $ 1.90 a day
People who live in less than $ 1.90 a day is correct.
The World Bank measures extreme poverty with its international poverty line. In October 2015 it revised this line to $1.90 per person per day, measured at 2011 purchasing power parity (PPP) prices.
The earlier line was $1.25 a day at 2005 PPP prices, and the older benchmark was about $1 a day; neither $1.5 nor $2 a day was the official extreme-poverty line.
So a person living on less than $1.90 a day was counted as living in extreme poverty when this paper was set.
