The questions that follow are based on the following information. Following is the table about the land under cultivation of different crops. We have to draw a Pie diagram to represent the information in the table.Crop Angle of the sector (in degrees) Sugarcane 108 Wheat 63 Rice 72 Vegetables 27 Fruits x
Find the angle in degrees associated with the sector represented by crop ‘Fruits’.
90°
In a pie diagram the whole circle represents the total quantity, and the angles of all the sectors together must add up to 360°. So the unknown angle for one crop can be found by subtracting the sum of the known sector angles from 360°.
Sum of known angles = \(108^{\circ} + 63^{\circ} + 72^{\circ} + 27^{\circ}\)
\(= 171^{\circ} + 72^{\circ} + 27^{\circ}\)
\(= 243^{\circ} + 27^{\circ}\)
\(= 270^{\circ}\)
\(x = 360^{\circ} - 270^{\circ}\)
\(= 90^{\circ}\)
The sector for fruits therefore covers a quarter of the circle. An angle of 50° or 70° would leave the total below 360°, and 120° would push the total above 360°, so none of these can complete the pie diagram.
Hence, 90°.
