Each of the letters in the word FAMILY is arranged in alphabetical order. How many letters are there in the English alphabetical series between the letter that is second from the left and the one that is third from the right in the new letter-cluster formed?

The correct answer is

Five

The letters of FAMILY are F, A, M, I, L, Y.

Arranged alphabetically: A, F, I, L, M, Y.

2nd from the left = F.

3rd from the right (positions 4, 5, 6 from right are L, F, A; so 3rd from right = L).

Letters between F and L in the English alphabet: G, H, I, J, K → 5 letters.
