Consider two Statements and a Question : Statement-1 : The last day of the month is a Wednesday. Statement-2 : The third Saturday of the month was the seventeenth day. Question : What day is the fourteenth of the given month ? Which one of the following is correct in respect of the Statements and the Question ?
statement-2 alone is sufficient to answer the Question
According to the given question, we need to find the day of the 14 th of the given month.
Statement 1 : The last day of the month is a Wednesday.
If the last day is Wednesday we are not able to find a day on the 14 th of that month because we don't know whether the month is of 28 days or 29 days or 30 days or 31 days.
Therefore, Statement-1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Statement 2 : The third Saturday of the month was the 17 th day.
If the 17 th day of the given month is Saturday then we can easily find the 14 th day by subtracting 3 odd days from Saturday i.e., (6 - 3) = 3. means Wednesday.
Therefore, Statement-2 alone is sufficient to answer the question.
Here we use odd days as Sunday = 0 , Monday = 1, Tuesday = 2, Wednesday = 3, Thursday = 4, Friday = 5, and Saturday = 6.
