Question

A, B, C and D are four points in order on a circle such that C is exactly opposite to A and D is exactly opposite to B. Which of the followings is NOT true?

RRB Technician 2026 Grade 3 Question Paper (7-Oct-2026) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

AC = CD

C is exactly opposite A and D is exactly opposite B, so AC and BD are both diameters of the circle.

The diagonals AC and BD of quadrilateral ABCD are equal (both diameters) and bisect each other at the centre, so ABCD is a rectangle.

In a rectangle, the diagonals are equal: AC = BD is true. Opposite sides are equal: AB = CD and AD = BC are true.

AC is a diagonal (diameter) while CD is a side; a diagonal of a rectangle is always longer than its side, so AC = CD is not true.

Hence, the answer is AC = CD.
