NICL AO selection process involves three stages — Prelims, Mains, and Interview — designed to assess a candidate’s aptitude, knowledge, and suitability for the role of Administrative Officer.
NICL AO Prelims Examination is the initial screening stage and is conducted online. It tests a candidate’s basic aptitude and comprehension abilities. While the Prelims marks are not included in the final merit list, clearing this stage is mandatory to move forward in the recruitment process. Candidates must meet both sectional and overall cut-off marks, as determined by NICL.
NICL AO Mains exam is more comprehensive and plays a critical role in shortlisting candidates for the final stage. It includes an Objective Test that is evaluated for merit and a Descriptive Test which is qualifying in nature. Only candidates who score above the cut-offs in the Objective Test will have their Descriptive Test evaluated. The final merit consideration begins at this stage, as marks scored in the Objective portion of the Mains will carry 80% weightage in the final selection.
Candidates who qualify NICL AO Mains exam will be called for the Interview round, which is the final phase of the selection process. The final selection will be based on a weighted ratio of 80% marks from the Main Exam (Objective) and 20% from the Interview. The final merit list is prepared based on the consolidated score of both stages. In the case of a tie in total marks, preference will be given to the candidate with higher interview marks, and if still tied, the candidate who is older in age will be ranked higher.
