Bihar STET Selection Process 2026 for Paper 1 and Paper 2 with Exam Pattern

Bihar STET exam is conducted for the post of Secondary teachers (Class IX-X) and Senior Secondary teachers (Class XI-XII). The candidates will be selected on the basis of a written exam. Bihar STET comprises of two papers- Paper-I for Secondary teachers (Class 9-10) and Paper-II for Senior Secondary (Class 11-12). Candidates can go through Bihar STET Syllabus 2026 & Books for Paper I & Paper II.If one wishes to have a teaching career in government institutions then they must attempt and clear the Bihar STET 2026 exam. Students can apply for the Bihar STET 2026 on the official website of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). For the Bihar STET exam, there is no limit on the number of attempts. Candidates can reappear as many times as they want to increase their score and position. Candidates with this certificate are eligible to apply for BSEB's numerous teaching positions.

Selection Process

Bihar STET Selection Process 2026

Candidates must first understand the Bihar STET Exam pattern 2026 before learning about the selection process. Candidates who wish to teach students in grades 9th and 10th must take the Bihar STET Paper-I, while those who want to teach students in grades 11th and 12th must appear for the Bihar STET Paper-II.

Bihar STET Paper 1 (Secondary Level- Class 9 & 10)

  • Candidates will be chosen solely based on their performance in the written exam.
  • There will be no negative marking for wrong or unattempted responses.
  • Each question will be worth one mark, and there will be a total of 150 questions, resulting in a total of 150 marks.

Bihar STET Paper 2 (Senior Secondary Level- Class 11 & 12)

The marking scheme for Bihar STET Paper-II is the same as Paper-I. There will be a total of 150 questions worth 150 marks.

The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Bihar STET written exam solely. The marks scored by the candidates will decide the selection of the candidate for the post of the teacher they have applied for. 

Eligibility

Bihar STET Eligibility Criteria 2026 

The candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The eligibility criteria for both papers in Bihar STET varies. Given below is the detailed eligibility criteria for the same. 

Bihar STET Eligibility: Nationality

The candidates must be a citizen of India and a resident of Bihar in order to be eligible to apply for Bihar STET.

Bihar STET Eligibility: Age Criteria 

The candidate must be of 21 years of age to apply for Bihar STET. However, the maximum age limit for candidates from various categories (after relaxations provided) is tabulated below:

Bihar STET Eligibility: Paper 1

The candidates must have a graduate degree in the relevant stream of their subject with at least 50% marks from a UGC-recognized university and must have a B.Ed. degree as well. The subject-wise educational qualification is as follows:

Mathematics Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry and B.Ed OR B.Tech. with Mathematics and B.Ed
Science Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Zoology or Chemistry, and B.Ed Or, BTech. with Science and B.Ed
Social Science Graduation with any two of the following subjects- History, Geography, Economics or Political Science (studying History or Geography is compulsory) and B.Ed

Bihar STET Eligibility: Paper 2

The candidates must have a Postgraduate degree in relevant stream with at least 50% marks from a UGC recognized university and must have completed B.Ed. degree. The educational qualification for various subjects are as follows:

Tech (Any Stream) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computers from any recognized University Or, M.Sc. (Computer Science) / MCA or Equivalent from a recognized University Or, B.Sc. (Computer Science) / BCA or Equivalent and Post Graduate Degree in any subject from a recognized University Or, Post Graduate Diploma in Computer and Post Graduate Degree in any subject from a recognized University Or, 'B' Level from DOEACC and Postgraduate degree in any subject. OR 'C' Level from 'DOEACC' Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and Graduation Or, MCA three years course (6 semesters)

Bihar STET Eligibility 2026: Physical Education and Physical Trainer 

The eligibility criteria for Bihar STET Physical Education and Physical Trainer is as follows:

  • The candidates from any Indian state can apply for this post. 
  • The minimum educational qualification is that the candidate must have passed Class X.
  • The candidate must hold a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Physical Education. 
  • The age limit for the post will be the same as given above.
