BARC recruitment salary is one of the key attractions for candidates applying to the Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) and DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS). During the training itself, selected candidates receive a monthly stipend along with allowances, making the programme financially rewarding from the very beginning. After successful completion, trainees are appointed as Scientific Officer “C” in Group-A Gazetted posts under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) with a starting pay at Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

BARC Recruitment Salary During Training

Candidates selected for BARC training programmes receive a fixed stipend during their training period, ensuring financial support while they undergo rigorous academic and practical sessions.

OCES Trainee Scientific Officers (TSOs):

• During the one-year training, OCES TSOs are paid a stipend of ₹74,000 per month.
• In addition, they receive a one-time book allowance of ₹30,000 to support their academic requirements.

DGFS Fellows:

• DGFS candidates, who pursue a two-year M.Tech. degree at selected institutes, and also receive a stipend of ₹74,000 per month for two years.
• Along with this, their tuition fees are reimbursed.
• They are also provided a one-time contingency grant of ₹60,000 per year for two years to meet project-related expenses.
• Further, they can get additional funding of up to ₹4,00,000 under the BRNS Fast Track Project Scheme for the necessary equipment and consumables required for their M.Tech. research.

It is also mandatory for OCES trainees to stay in DAE hostels, and for DGFS fellows to stay in their respective institute hostels during the training period. This ensures a disciplined environment and access to necessary facilities while training.

BARC Recruitment Grade and Pay Scale

After successfully completing the training programme, both OCES Trainee Scientific Officers and DGFS Fellows are appointed as Scientific Officer “C” in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). This is a Group-A Gazetted Officer position under the Government of India, which ensures job security, prestige, and a structured career path.

Pay Level: Scientific Officers are placed in Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix, which corresponds to a basic pay of ₹56,100 per month.

Increments:

• DGFS fellows receive 3 or 4 increments, depending on their performance in their M.Tech. and the Orientation Course for DGFS Fellows.
• However, DGFS fellows who do not meet the required performance standards may not receive any increments.

BARC Monthly Salary of Scientific Officer (C) in DAE Units

After completing the training programme, candidates join as Scientific Officer “C” in different units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The monthly salary of a Scientific Officer (C) includes the basic pay, increments, and several allowances.

• Basic Pay (Level 10, 7th CPC): ₹56,100 per month
• Increments on Joining: 2–3 increments for OCES trainees, and 3–4 increments for DGFS fellows (subject to performance)
• Gross Monthly Salary: With Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Transport Allowance at Mumbai rates, the salary comes to around ₹1,34,000 per month at the time of joining.

BARC Scientific Officer (C) Allowances & Perks
