The correct answer is

Srinagar and Leh

The Zojila tunnel will link Srinagar with Leh — option 3.

What the pass is and why a tunnel is needed. Zojila is a high pass at about 11,575 feet on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway, National Highway 1, where the road crosses from the Kashmir valley into the Dras valley and on to Ladakh. Snow, avalanches and drifting close it for four to six months every winter, cutting Ladakh off by road from Kashmir altogether. The tunnel will keep the route open all year.

Why it matters strategically. Ladakh borders both Pakistan and China, and until now the army’s only all-weather access has been by air. An all-year road link to Leh transforms the movement of troops and supplies, and it equally transforms civilian life in Kargil and Leh, where residents have had to stock food and fuel for the whole winter.

Hence, the answer is Srinagar and Leh.
