It needs aerobic condition for the process.

Biological nitrogen fixation by the nitrogenase enzyme is an energy-intensive reaction that consumes ATP, uses reducing power (electrons/hydrogen) supplied via reduced ferredoxin or NADPH pathways, and converts atmospheric N2 first into ammonium ion (NH4+) — so the first three statements are correct.

However, nitrogenase is extremely sensitive to oxygen and is irreversibly inactivated in its presence; it requires anaerobic (oxygen-free or oxygen-protected) conditions to function. Root nodules maintain this through leghaemoglobin, which binds and buffers free oxygen. The claim that the process needs aerobic conditions is therefore incorrect.

Hence, the answer is it needs aerobic condition.
