Refraction is the bending of light as it passes between different mediums, such as from air to water or air to glass. This bending happens because the speed of light changes.

• Delayed sunset: The sun appears visible for a short time after it has geometrically set. This is caused by the refraction of sunlight through the atmosphere, bending the light rays towards the observer.
