Question

Directions: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

In a hexagon arrangement, at each corner, a triangle is placed which is denoted by either two letters or two numbers. Below are given some of the conditions:

I. If the number is a perfect square then only that number is increased by 1.

II. If there is at least one vowel then change it to the preceding alphabet.

III. If both digits are odd then reduce those digits by 2.

IV. If any one of the consonants is smaller than N in alphabetical order then change it to the next alphabet.

Note: If no condition is applied then there will be no change.

Apply the above-given conditions to find the output. More than one condition can be applicable.

For example:

InputOutput
Triangle 11, 42, 5
Triangle 2o, kn, l
Triangle 36, 76, 7
Triangle 4i, lh, m
Triangle 5s, vs, v
Triangle 65, 53, 3

Input
Triangle 1c, d
Triangle 2u, b
Triangle 37, 7
Triangle 4h, f
Triangle 5w, q
Triangle 68, 3

What is the output of triangle 1?

The correct answer is

d, e

Hexagon Arrangement Conditions Explained

The problem describes a hexagon arrangement where each corner has a triangle with either two letters or two numbers. Specific conditions are provided to transform the input within these triangles to produce an output. We need to apply these conditions to the input given for Triangle 1, which is 'c, d'.

Analyzing Triangle 1 Input: c, d

We will examine each given condition to see if it applies to the input 'c, d'.

  • Condition I: If the number is a perfect square then only that number is increased by 1.

The input for Triangle 1 ('c, d') consists of letters, not numbers. Therefore, Condition I is not applicable.

  • Condition II: If there is at least one vowel then change it to the preceding alphabet.

The input 'c' is a consonant and 'd' is a consonant. There are no vowels in 'c, d'. Therefore, Condition II is not applicable.

  • Condition III: If both digits are odd then reduce those digits by 2.

The input 'c, d' consists of letters, not digits. Therefore, Condition III is not applicable.

  • Condition IV: If any one of the consonants is smaller than N in alphabetical order then change it to the next alphabet.

Let's check this condition for both parts of the input 'c, d':

  • The first part is 'c'. 'c' is a consonant. Is 'c' smaller than 'N' in alphabetical order? Yes, 'c' comes before 'N'. According to the condition, we change 'c' to the next alphabet. The next alphabet after 'c' is 'd'.
  • The second part is 'd'. 'd' is a consonant. Is 'd' smaller than 'N' in alphabetical order? Yes, 'd' comes before 'N'. According to the condition, we change 'd' to the next alphabet. The next alphabet after 'd' is 'e'.

Condition IV is applicable to both 'c' and 'd'.

Determining the Final Output

Based on the analysis:

  • Condition I is not applicable.
  • Condition II is not applicable.
  • Condition III is not applicable.
  • Condition IV is applicable, changing 'c' to 'd' and 'd' to 'e'.

The note states that more than one condition can be applicable, but in this case, only Condition IV applies. It also states that if no condition is applied, there is no change, but here Condition IV is applied.

Applying the applicable condition (Condition IV) to 'c, d' results in 'd, e'.

Therefore, the output of Triangle 1 for the input 'c, d' is 'd, e'.

Important Questions from Conditional Matrix

  1. What is the sum of the second number of output of triangle 3 and the first number of output triangle 6?

  2. How many letters are the between the second letter of the output of triangle 2 and the first letter of the output of triangle 5?

  3. What is the difference between the product of numbers of the output of triangle 3 and product of numbers of the output of triangle 6?

  4. Select the option in which the numbers are related in the same way as are the numbers of the following sets.

(NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into its constituent digits. E.g. 13 – Operations on 13 such as adding /deleting /multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed)

    (24, 8, 96)

    (36, 4, 72)

  5. Select the set in which the numbers are related in the same way as are the numbers of the following sets.

    (30, 14, 8)

    (84, 12, 36)
