Question

To determine whether h > i, consider the following:

Statement I: h > j;
Statement II: j > i.

Are the statements sufficient to conclude h > i?

This question was previously asked in
SSC CPO 2025 Paper 1 Question Paper (9-Dec-2025) (Shift 2)
The correct answer is

Both statements together

Statement I alone (h > j) gives no information about i, so it is not sufficient.

Statement II alone (j > i) gives no information about h, so it is not sufficient.

Using both together: h > j and j > i give the chain h > j > i, so by transitivity h > i.

Hence, both statements together are sufficient to conclude h > i.
