Given:

The current population of the town is 68,000.

The population increases by 10% in the first year and decreases by 5% in the second year.

Calculation:

After 10% increase, the new population ⇒ 68000 + (68000 × 10/100) = 68000 + 6800 = 74800

In the second year, the population decreases by 5%.

So, after 5% decrease, the new population ⇒ 74800 × 95/100 = 71060

∴ The population after 2 years is 71,060.
