Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) builds the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP 8×8), an armoured vehicle jointly developed with DRDO. Morocco ordered the vehicle for its Royal Armed Forces and asked for it to be produced locally.
On 23 September 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Morocco’s minister Abdeltif Loudiyi jointly inaugurated TASL’s WhAP manufacturing plant at Berrechid in the Casablanca region of Morocco. It is described as India’s first overseas defence manufacturing facility.
Egypt, South Africa and Algeria are defence partners of India in Africa, but no Indian defence manufacturing plant became operational in any of them in 2025.
