In which year was the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act enacted ?
2003
The Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act was framed to bring discipline to the finances of the Union Government by setting targets for reducing the fiscal deficit and eliminating the revenue deficit.
The FRBM Bill was introduced in Parliament in December 2000. After examination by a Standing Committee it was passed, received the President's assent and was enacted in August 2003; the Act and its rules came into force on 5 July 2004.
The year 2001 falls in the period when the Bill was still pending, 1999 predates the Bill, and by 2005 the Act was already in force, so none of these is the year of enactment.
