Question

In which Indian state is Majuli Island located ?

This question was previously asked in
UPSSSC Lower PCS 2026 Question Paper (23-Aug-2026)
The correct answer is

None of the above

Majuli lies in the Brahmaputra in Assam, and Assam does not appear among the four named states, so none of the listed options can be right.

Majuli is one of the world's largest river islands, formed by the Brahmaputra splitting around a mass of alluvium and the Subansiri joining from the north. Continuous bank erosion has shrunk it steadily from its historical extent.

It is also the seat of the Vaishnavite satras founded in the tradition of Srimanta Sankardeva, which makes it the cultural heart of Assamese Neo-Vaishnavism, and in 2016 it became the first island in India to be constituted as a full district.

Since Bihar, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Odisha are all incorrect, the answer is None of the above.
