UPSC CAPF 2026 General Ability and Intelligence Question Paper (19-Jul-2026)
The correct answer is

1 only

Statement 1 is correct: the Bay of Bengal experiences significantly more tropical cyclones than the Arabian Sea, due to its warmer sea-surface temperatures and funnel-shaped coastline.

Statement 2 is incorrect: on average only about 4 to 6 tropical cyclones form over the North Indian Ocean each year, not 12 to 15.

Statement 3 is incorrect: cyclones over the Indian region are seasonal, concentrated mainly in the pre-monsoon (April–June) and post-monsoon (October–December) periods, not occurring continuously throughout the year.

Hence, only statement 1 is correct.
