The correct answer is 0.5 A

The correct answer is 0.5 A.

 Key Points

Given:

  • For Direct Current (DC), V = 10 V
  • When a capacitor is connected in a DC circuit and is fully charged, it acts as an open circuit, meaning no charge flows through the positive terminal of the capacitor.
  • In an Alternating Current (AC) circuit, the capacitor charges and discharges continuously.
  • Therefore, the capacitor will block Direct Current (DC), so R1 will have no effect in this circuit.
  • Hence, resistors R2 and R3 will be in series combination.
  • Equivalent resistance, R = R2 + R3
  • R = 10 + 10 = 20 ohms
  • We know that V = IR
  • \(I = \frac{V}{R} = \frac{10}{20} = 0.5 A\)

Thus, the current in the circuit is 0.5 A.
