KPSC Teacher Eligibility Criteria 2026: Age and Qualification

The offline exam for which the age limit is 21-42 years is conducted in both English and Kannada in two levels. Graduate candidates who possess D.Ed / B.Ed and have qualified CTET or Karnataka TET must not miss this opportunity. The recruitment exam for teachers in Karnataka is conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission. The exam for Graduate Primary Teacher for class 6 to 8, Pay Scale (Rs 14550 – 26700) will be conducted for a total of 15,000 posts. Eligible candidates are required to apply through online mode only to appear in this exam.

KPSC Age Limit and Age Relaxation

The candidates must read the age limit criteria very carefully as candidates falling under a certain age range only are eligible to apply. To apply for the teacher recruitment exam, a candidate must be between 21-42 years.

KPSC Teacher Educational Qualification

The minimum qualification for Graduate Primary Teacher for class 6 to 8 is as follows:

• Graduate degree with minimum 50% and two-year diploma in elementary education / Bachelor in Education/ Bachelor in special education for SC/ST/ category I of OBC, 45% marks are required in graduation
• Must have passed Teacher Eligibility Test qualified by Government of Karnataka or Government of India.

KPSC Teacher Educational Qualification for Graduate Primary Teacher (Language)

• Studied both the concerned language and one of the following subjects as optional – Kannada/ English/ Hindi/ Marathi/ Urdu/ Telugu/ Tamil/ Malayalam/ Konkani/ Sanskrit/ History/ Economics/ Political Science/ Geography/ Sociology.
• Scored 50% marks in concerned language and in the other subject

For Graduate Primary Teacher (Mathematics and Science)

• Graduate who has studied mathematics, physics compulsorily for three years in the Graduate degree along with either Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Geology and Biotechnology as the third optional subject for a three-year graduate degree, or
• Engineering graduate other than graduates in Architecture who have studied mathematics in first three/four semesters and applied mathematics in rest of the semesters
• Must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in each of three subjects

KPSC Teacher Educational Qualification For Graduate Primary Teacher (Biological Sciences)

• Graduates who have studied Chemistry compulsorily for three years in the graduate degree and any of the two subjects from among Botany/ Zoology/ Sericulture/ Environmental Science/ Genetics/ Mathematics for three years in the graduate degree
• Minimum 50% of aggregate marks in each of these three subjects

KPSC Teacher Educational Qualification For Graduate Primary Teacher (Social Studies)

• Studied two subjects as optional subjects for three years in the graduate degree as follows
• Either both subjects from social studies group of history/ Economics/ Geography/ Political Science or
• one subject from social studies group of History/ Economics/ Geography/ Political Science/ Sociology and one subject from Language group of Kanada/ English/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Telugu/ Tamil/ Konkani/ Sanskrit
