IB ACIO (Intelligence Bureau Assistant Central Intelligence Officer) is a graduation level examination. The examination is conducted under the authority ofthe Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). IB ACIO (Intelligence Bureau Assistant Central Intelligence Officer) is a high salaried post in addition with other allowances that are provided by the Government of India. Earlier IB was under the control of internal and external intelligence of the country. But later it was split into two different organizations - Intelligence Bureau and Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW).

IB ACIO (Intelligence Bureau Assistant Central Intelligence Officer) is a national level examination that is conducted once a year. It is a classified Grade II, Group C (Non - gazetted, non - ministerial) executive post.

  • There are about 750 joiners for every batch.
  • The training centre at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh includes 120 training candidates at a time.
  • The entire training process is divided into three stages. The first training stage is at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. It consists of 60 days of training period. The second stage of training is at Delhi and the third stage is 'On the Job' training which is also of 60 days period.
  • Generally, the female candidates are not posted at border areas and Naxal areas.

  1. Candidate should be an Indian citizen
  2. Candidates should have completed their graduation with any stream from a recognized university.
  3. Candidates should have basic knowledge about computers.
  4. Age limit of the candidate should range between 18-27 years.
  5. Relaxation:

Relaxation on upper limit is given to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories -

  • A relaxation of 5 years is given to the candidates belonging to SC (scheduled caste) and ST (scheduled tribes) category.
  • A relaxation of 3 years is given to the candidates belonging to OBC (Other Backward Class).

The examination is conducted in three different stages.

The first stage is a written test which is a total of 100 marks.

  • It is a MCQ based paper. The paper is divided into four sections: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Ability and English Language.
  • Time allotted for the first stage is 60 minutes.

The second stage is the essay writing and comprehension test. It is a descriptive paper.

  • The paper is divided into two sections: essay writing and comprehension and précis writing.
  • Essay consists of 30 marks while comprehension and précis writing consists of 20 marks making a total of 50.
  • Time allotted to the candidates in Stage 2 is 60 minutes.

The third and final stage is the personal interview. It is a total of 100 marks. This stage judges the personality of the candidate based on the parameters like intelligence, awareness and knowledge.

  • The candidates who apply for IB ACIO examination have to appear for the first tier of examination. The minimum cut off for different categories is prescribed by the authority. Candidates must achieve the minimum cut off marks to get selected for the second round.
  • Only those candidates are called for Tier 2, who qualify the preliminary round.
  • The performance of the candidates in Tier 1 and 2 is taken into consideration for shortlisting them for the interview round.
  • Based on the overall performance, the merit list is prepared.

IB ACIO Application Process

The application process for filing the form of IB ACIO is divided into two parts. The first part is filing of the form while the other one is fee payment. Candidates are required to fill the form through an online mode.
