DSSSB PRT Eligibility 2026: Check Age limit & Qualifications

DSSSB PRT Eligibility Criteria will be released by DSSSB in the official notification. Candidates are required to fulfil the parameters of age, nationality and educational qualifications to apply for the exam. Applicants must have Indian citizenship with an age below 30 years to be eligible. Relaxation of age is applicable for certain categories.  The educational qualification for Assistant Teacher Primary positions in the Directorate of Education and NDMC differs in terms of language proficiency and other criteria. Eligible candidates can apply online for DSSSB PRT 2026.

DSSSB PRT Age Limit

DSSSB PRT Age limit prescribes candidates to be under the age of 30 years, with relaxations applicable for certain categories. Check the table below for the relaxations in age limit:

The subcategories of the PwD candidates mentioned above are:

  • Blindness and Low Vision
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Locomotor disability including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims and Muscular Dystrophy
  • Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability and Mental Illness.
  • Multiple Disabilities from amongst persons under the clauses mentioned above, including deaf-blindness.

DSSSB PRT Educational Qualification

DSSSB PRT Educational Qualification for a candidate depends upon the post applying. Candidates failing to meet the qualifications will be disqualified. The qualifications for various posts are listed below:

1. DSSSB PRT Assistant teacher (Primary) Directorate of Education: It requires either of the following qualifications:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognised Board.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education the NCTE regulations – 2002.
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education
  • Graduation and two years Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognized Board.

Apart from these, candidates must have the following compulsory qualifications:

  • Passed CTET conducted by CBSE.
  • Passed Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi, or English as a subject at Secondary level.

Note: Relaxations upto 5 % of qualifying marks are availed to candidates from the categories SC / ST / OBC / PH.

2. Assistant Teacher (Primary) New Delhi Municipal Council: It requires either of the following qualifications:

  • Two years Diploma in Primary Education
  • Certificate Course in ETE / JBT / DIET / B.El.Ed. from a recognised institution.

Apart from these, candidates must have the following compulsory qualifications:

  • 12th pass with 50% marks (5% relaxation in case of SC / ST) from a recognised board.
  • Must have passed Hindi as a subject in 10th class.
  • Must have cleared CTET as per NCTE guidelines.

DSSSB PRT Nationality Criteria

DSSSB PRT Nationality Criteria require candidates to be Indian citizens. Only Indian citizens who meet the age and educational qualifications are eligible to apply for DSSSB PRT 2026.

DSSSB PRT Eligibility 2026 FAQs

Ques: Can foreign nationals apply for DSSSB PRT?

Ans: No, foreign nationals are not eligible for DSSSB PRT. The eligibility criteria strictly mention DSSSB PRT applicable for Indian citizens only.

Ques: Is prior teaching experience required for DSSSB PRT?

Ans: DSSSB PRT does not require candidates to have prior teaching experience. Candidates qualifying the criteria of age, nationality and education can apply.

Ques: Is CTET required for DSSSB PRT?

Ans: Yes, clearing CTET is required for the posts of both Assistant Teacher (Primary) New Delhi Municipal Council and Assistant Teacher (Primary) Directorate of Education.

Ques: Can candidates above 30 apply for DSSSB PRT?

Ans: DSSSB PRT requires candidates to be within 30 years of age to be eligible. Age relaxations are however applicable for certain categories from 3 years to even 15 years.

Ques: Is language proficiency in English compulsory?

Ans: Language proficiency in English is compulsory for Assistant teacher (Primary) in the Directorate of Education. Assistant Teacher (Primary) in the New Delhi Municipal Council, however, requires a compulsory proficiency in Hindi, and not English.
