Bihar Police Constable Eligibility Criteria 2025

Bihar Police department has released Bihar Police Constable notification 2025 for 19,838 vacancies on March 11, 2025. The online registration will begin from March 18, 2025 and will end on April 18, 2025. Any General Category candidate wishing to apply for a constable job in Bihar Police must not be below 18 years of age and not more than 25 years of age. Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) has provided age relaxations to various reserved category candidates. Candidates should have passed the Intermediate (10+2) exam to be eligible for the post. Those candidates having a graduation degree or Post graduation can also apply for Constable post.

Age Limit

Bihar Police Constable Age Limit 2025 and Relaxation

Candidates falling between the prescribed age limit are only allowed to appear for the said exam. CSBC has a prescribed minimum age limit of 18 years for all the categories. The maximum age limit for the post of Constable varies for reserved and general categories and this is decided by the concerned authorities.  CSBC has provided age relaxation to reserved category candidates. The age limit for all the categories is tabled below:

Note: Home Guards trained in Bihar or enrolled in Bihar shall have age relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit irrespective of any category be it General or Reserved. Also, the age limit will be decided based on the date of birth mentioned in the certificate of Matriculation or any equivalent exam.

Bihar Police Constable Educational Qualification

Candidates wishing to apply for the job of Constable in Bihar Police should have information regarding prescribed educational qualifications. As per CSBC, educational qualifications are mentioned below: 

  • Aspiring candidates must have passed at least the Intermediate (10+2) Examination from any recognized board. 
  • Candidates from the Madarsa Board of Bihar should have passed the Maulvi certificate. 
  • Candidates of the Sanskrit Board of Bihar should have passed the minimum Acharya (without English) certificate or Shastri (With English) certificate. 
  • The candidates having a degree of Graduation or above are also eligible to apply for the Constable post.

Bihar Police Constable Physical Standard Requirements 

CSBC has set certain Physical Standard for the candidates so as to appear for the Constable examination. Candidates should fulfil the prescribed requirements. All the details regarding Physical standards are tabled below in the simplest form for easy understanding.

Note: 

  • There should be a minimum 5 cm difference after expanding the chest.
  • There won’t be any Chest Measurement for Women candidates.

Bihar Police Constable Selection Criteria 2025

The examination conducted by CSBC for the recruitment of Constables in Bihar Police mainly consists of three steps. They are discussed below: 

Bihar Police Constable Written Examination

MCQ-based examination consisting of 100 questions of 10+2 level. Candidates scoring less than 30% marks in this written examination shall be disqualified from further rounds. It is to be kept in mind that this written examination is just qualifying in nature and marks obtained in this written test shall not be considered for the final merit list. Those candidates who qualify for this test shall move to the next round which is the Physical Aptitude/Efficiency Test (PET).

Bihar Police Constable Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 

This test consists of 100 marks. Candidates failing to meet the required standard shall be disqualified for further rounds. Marks distribution as decided by CSBC is mentioned below:

Note: There is a detailed marking scheme for All Types of Tests mentioned above. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed notification as released by CSBC. 

Final Merit List

The merit list will be made based on the candidate’s combined score in Running, Shot Put, and High Jump. In case of tie-in marks, selection would be done based on Date of Birth and if there is a tie again, educational qualification would be the deciding factor.

Ans. The minimum age limit as decided by CSBC for the Constable exam in Bihar Police is 18 years. The maximum age limit for general category candidates is 25 years. It is noteworthy that there is age relaxation too for reserved candidates. 

Ques. What is the number of attempts decided by CSBC for the Constable exam in Bihar Police? 

Ans. CSBC has allowed the candidates to appear for the examination as long as candidates do not breach the upper age limit as prescribed. So, there is no attempt limit for this examination. In simple words, general candidates crossing 25 years of age are not eligible to appear for the examination.

Ans. CSBC has set certain Physical standard requirements for the candidates appearing in the Constable examination. General/ BC Male candidates should have a minimum height of 165 cm whereas for females of all categories it is kept at a minimum of 155 cm. There is some relaxation in height for EBC, ST/SC, and Gorkha candidates. Also, for General/BC/EBC candidates minimum chest unexpanded should be 81 cm. There should be a minimum 5 cm difference while expanding the chest. There is certain relaxation for ST/SC and Gorkha candidates in Chest measurements too.
