Rajasthan's Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana (MAAY), earlier known as the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana, is the state's flagship health insurance scheme, offering families cashless treatment worth up to ₹25 lakh a year. The scheme covers hospitalisation, surgery, critical illness and accidents through hospitals empanelled across Rajasthan, aiming to make healthcare more affordable and reduce the financial burden on families.

What the Scheme Offers

MAAY provides cashless health insurance coverage of ₹25 lakh every year per family, along with accident insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh. It covers more than 1,700 medical and surgical packages and allows treatment at both government and private hospitals empanelled under the scheme. Families in the paid category pay ₹850 a year, with the state government bearing the rest of the premium.

Goals of MAAY

The scheme aims to guarantee universal access to quality healthcare, reduce the financial burden during health emergencies, prevent families from falling into debt for treatment, make treatment for ailments affordable, and improve healthcare access for economically weaker and middle-income groups across Rajasthan.

Treatments Covered

The more than 1,700 medical packages under MAAY include general surgery, orthopaedic treatment, paediatric care, gynaecological services, cancer care, heart surgery, kidney transplant, liver transplant, ICU care, diagnostic tests, doctor's fees and operation theatre charges. Beneficiaries also receive pre-hospitalisation benefits covering medicines and diagnostics for five days before admission, and post-hospitalisation benefits covering medicines and follow-up consultations for 15 days after discharge.

Family and Accident Coverage

All family members listed on the Jan Aadhaar card are covered under the scheme, with no age limit, and every newborn child is also covered. Under the accident insurance component, the scheme provides ₹5 lakh in case of death due to accident, up to ₹10 lakh if more than one family member dies in the same accident, and up to ₹3 lakh for permanent total disability.

Eligibility and Registration Categories

Applicants must be permanent residents of Rajasthan. Families eligible for free registration, fully subsidised by the government, include beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), families under SECC 2011, small and marginal farmers, contract employees of state departments, boards and corporations, and poor families that received state government cash assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Households that do not qualify for free registration can enrol under the paid category for ₹850 per family for the year, with the Rajasthan government paying the remaining premium.

Documents Required

Applicants need a Jan Aadhaar Card or registration receipt, Aadhaar cards of all family members, a mobile number linked to Aadhaar, proof of residence in Rajasthan, land documents for eligible farmers, and identification for contractual employment where applicable.

How to Apply

Applicants can register online through the Rajasthan SSO Portal by logging in or creating an account, selecting the MAA-YOJANA service, entering their Jan Aadhaar number, completing Aadhaar e-KYC verification, choosing the free or paid option, submitting the application and downloading the policy document. Registration can also be done offline at the nearest e-Mitra Centre by providing Jan Aadhaar and Aadhaar details, completing biometric or OTP verification, paying ₹850 for the paid category, and collecting the policy document after registration.
