Government Clears Early Exit of LIC Managing Director Dinesh Pant

The Central Government has approved the early end of Dinesh Pant's tenure as Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) after he opted for voluntary retirement. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) in the Ministry of Finance issued the notification on September 24, 2026, and the order took effect the same day. His exit comes ahead of his superannuation in May 2027.

Retirement Details

The notification was issued under the Life Insurance Corporation of India (Staff) Rules, 1960 and the LIC Managing Directors (Revision of Certain Terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1988.

LIC informed that Pant retired from the Corporation's service on account of voluntary retirement. He ceased to hold office as Managing Director and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) from the close of business on September 24.

His Tenure at LIC

Pant was appointed LIC Managing Director in May 2025 and took charge on June 1, 2025. His original appointment ran until May 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever was earlier. Before this role, he served as Appointed Actuary and Executive Director (Actuarial) of LIC.

Move to IRDAI

The retirement follows the government's appointment of Pant as Whole-Time Member (Actuary) at the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) in June 2026. He was appointed on June 15, 2026, for five years or until he turns 65, whichever is earlier.

Ques. Can I attempt a previous year test more than once?

Ans. A previous year test can be attempted as many times as time you wish and you can review the solutions and analysis of the attempted tests as many times as you want.

Ques. Do you also provide solutions for the questions?

Ans. Yes, detailed solutions will be available to you after you finish the test. You will be able to access these solutions anytime after you have taken the test.

Ques. Will I get any report card after the test?

Ans. Yes, you will get a detailed analysis of your performance after submitting the test.
