Who among the following led the Santhal Revolt against British rule and zamindari oppression?
Murmu Brothers
The Santhal Revolt (Santhal Hul) of 1855–56 in the Rajmahal Hills of present-day Jharkhand was a tribal uprising against the British colonial administration and the oppressive mahajan–zamindar system that was dispossessing Santhal peasants of their land.
It was led by the four brothers Sidhu, Kanhu, Chand and Bhairav Murmu, who mobilised tens of thousands of Santhals to attack moneylenders, landlords and British officials.
Birsa Munda led the Munda Ulgulan (1899–1900), Tantia Bhil led the Bhil uprising in central India, and the Chapekar brothers were associated with the 1897 assassination of Rand in Pune — none of these led the Santhal Revolt.
Hence, Murmu Brothers.
