• High Clay Content: It is predominantly composed of fine clay particles, which have a significant capacity to absorb water and expand.
• Shrinking and Swelling: When the soil dries out in hot weather, the clay particles lose moisture, causing the soil mass to shrink. This shrinkage results in the formation of deep, wide cracks on the surface. Conversely, when wet, it swells up.
