A freely faceted system allows these facets to be combined in various ways to create specific subject representations, offering great flexibility.
Analyzing Classification System Types

- CRG Classification: The Classification Research Group (CRG) in the UK was a significant proponent of faceted classification. Systems developed or influenced by CRG principles generally adhere to faceted structures.
- Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC): While DDC is a sophisticated classification system, it is primarily hierarchical and enumerative, though it incorporates some synthetic or faceted elements.
