Principal (P) = ₹10,000 Time (t) = 1 1/2 years = 3/2 years = 3/2 * 12 months = 18 months Rate (r) = 10% p.a. = 5% per 6 months Simple Interest (SI) = (P * r * t)/100 = (10000 * 10 * 3/2)/100 = ₹1500 Compound Interest (CI) for 6-monthly compounding: Rate per period = 5% Number of periods = 18 months / 6 months = 3 periods Amount (A) = P(1 + r/100)^n = 10000 (1 + 5/100)^3 = 10000 * (1.05)^3 = 10000 * 1.157625 = ₹11576.25 CI = A - P = 11576.25 - 10000 = ₹1576.25 Difference = CI - SI = 1576.25 - 1500 = ₹76.25
