Summer Festival Visitor Analysis in Shimla

This problem involves analyzing visitor data from a summer festival in Shimla to find a specific difference between groups of visitors based on their profession and gender.

Initial Visitor Data

The total number of visitors at the festival was 4000.

Calculating Unemployed Visitors

First, let's determine the number of unemployed visitors:

  • Percentage of unemployed visitors = 25%
  • Number of unemployed visitors = $0.25 \times 4000$
  • Number of unemployed visitors = 1000

Next, we find the number of females among the unemployed:

  • Percentage of unemployed females = 20%
  • Number of female unemployed = $0.20 \times 1000$
  • Number of female unemployed = 200

Now, we calculate the number of males among the unemployed:

  • Number of male unemployed = Total unemployed - Female unemployed
  • Number of male unemployed = $1000 - 200$
  • Number of male unemployed = 800

Calculating Doctor Visitors

Next, let's calculate the number of doctors:

  • Percentage of doctors = 12.5%
  • Number of doctors = $0.125 \times 4000$
  • Number of doctors = 500

Now, we find the number of females among the doctors:

  • Percentage of female doctors = 50%
  • Number of female doctors = $0.50 \times 500$
  • Number of female doctors = 250

Finally, we calculate the number of males among the doctors:

  • Number of male doctors = Total doctors - Female doctors
  • Number of male doctors = $500 - 250$
  • Number of male doctors = 250

Calculating Target Group Totals

We need to find two combined groups:

  1. Group 1: Male doctors and male unemployed together.
  2. Group 2: Female unemployed and female doctors together.

Calculation for Group 1

Number of male doctors = 250

Number of male unemployed = 800

Total for Group 1 = Number of male doctors + Number of male unemployed

Total for Group 1 = $250 + 800 = 1050$

Calculation for Group 2

Number of female unemployed = 200

Number of female doctors = 250

Total for Group 2 = Number of female unemployed + Number of female doctors

Total for Group 2 = $200 + 250 = 450$

Finding the Difference

The question asks for the difference between Group 1 and Group 2:

  • Difference = Total for Group 1 - Total for Group 2
  • Difference = $1050 - 450$
  • Difference = 600

Conclusion

The difference between the number of male doctors and the number of male unemployed together and the number of female unemployed and female doctors together is 600.
