  • Viruses:-
    • These are incredibly tiny, infectious particles that can only reproduce inside living cells.
    • They are much smaller than bacteria and can only be seen with an electron microscope. 
    • Viruses are made up of genetic material (DNA or RNA) enclosed in a protein coat called a capsid.
    • Some viruses also have an envelope, which is a layer of fat and protein that surrounds the capsid. The genetic material inside the virus contains the instructions for making new viruses. 
    • The diameter size range of viruses varies greatly, from about 20 nanometers (nm) to 500 nm.
    • For comparison, a human hair is about 100,000 nm wide.
