Level Instrument Temporary Adjustment Sequence

Temporary adjustments are crucial steps performed whenever a level instrument is set up at a new location to ensure accurate measurements. These adjustments must be done in a specific order.

Key Adjustment Steps

The sequence involves preparing the instrument for sighting:

1. Setting:
   • First, place the tripod over the station point where the instrument will be used.
   • Mount the level instrument securely on the tripod head.
   • Adjust the tripod legs to position the instrument approximately over the station point.
2. Centering:
   • Accurately position the instrument directly above the station mark.
   • This step ensures the instrument is precisely located over the point of measurement.
3. Leveling:
   • Use the instrument's leveling screws to move the bubble in the plate level vial until it is exactly centered between its extreme positions.
   • This action makes the instrument's horizontal plane truly horizontal, ensuring the line of sight is level.
