Question

Read the following passage and answer the questions below it.

A, B, C, D, E and F are cousins. No two cousins are of the same age, but everyone's birthday falls on the same date of the same month. The youngest is 17 years old and the eldest E is 22 years old. F is somewhere between B and D in age. A is older than B. C is older than D. A is one year older than C.

Which one of the following is possible?

The correct answer is

F is 18 years old

In the question A, B, C, D, E and F are cousins of different ages having their birthdays on same day of same month. The youngest cousin is 17 years old, E being oldest which is 22 years old and age of cousin F is in between the ages of cousin B and cousin D. If cousin A is older than cousin B, while cousin C is older than cousin D and cousin A is 1year older than cousin C, then we analyse that the table below shows the respective ages of all the cousins as: In the above table we see that age of cousin A is more than cousin B and age of cousin C is more than cousin D, while age of cousin A is 1 yrs more than cousin C, so we see that cousin B and cousin D are smaller in age than cousin A and cousin C, so we see that the age of cousin F is in between the age of cousin B and cousin D, which gives age of F as 18years.
