Jean Piaget gave importance to ........... in the process of learning.
Readiness to learn
Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development holds that children pass through stages (sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational) and that learning depends on the child's level of cognitive maturation.
Because a concept can be grasped only when the necessary mental structures have developed, Piaget stressed the learner's developmental readiness: instruction should match the stage the child has reached, and learning occurs when the child is ready to assimilate and accommodate new experience.
Negative reinforcement is a behaviourist idea from Skinner's operant conditioning. Competitive feeling is not a part of Piaget's account, which emphasises the child's own construction of knowledge. Functional fixedness is a barrier to problem solving described by Gestalt psychologist Karl Duncker, not a Piagetian principle.
