Measurement First Step Definition

The fundamental purpose of measurement is to quantify specific characteristics or attributes.

In the initial phase of any measurement process, the focus is precisely on determining the extent or value of a particular quality or attribute associated with a person or a thing.

This involves:

• Identifying the specific characteristic to be measured (e.g., length, weight, temperature, intelligence, satisfaction).
• Applying a measuring instrument or procedure to assign a numerical value or category representing that characteristic.

Measurement does not directly measure the entire person, the teacher's overall behaviour, or the surrounding environment in its first step. Instead, it isolates and quantifies a specific, defined quality or attribute.
