Feelings supply the energy behind almost every piece of classroom behaviour, so a teacher who understands the emotional life of children is able to use it as an instrument of teaching instead of treating it as a disturbance to be suppressed.

By awakening curiosity, wonder and sympathy a teacher draws children into a lesson and holds their attention on it. By finding out what children feel strongly about, the same teacher chooses content and activities wisely while a suitable course of study is being framed. By deliberately strengthening desirable feelings and weakening harmful ones, the whole teaching effort is made more effective.
