Karl Marx connected the actualization of human potential directly to the process of labor and its material outcomes.

Understanding Labor and Objectification

• Marx viewed human beings as fundamentally creative entities whose essence (Gattungswesen or species-being) is realized through conscious, free, and creative labor.
• Labor involves transforming nature and embedding human capabilities, ideas, and social relations into the products created. This process is known as objectification.
• The resulting products are objective manifestations of human activity and potential.

Potential Actualized in Products

While Marx critically analyzed how capitalism leads to alienation (where workers are estranged from their labor, its products, themselves, and others), the very act of creating and objectifying labor into products is the mechanism through which human potential is expressed externally.

Therefore, for Marx, human potential finds its manifestation or actualization in the objectification of products, as this is how human essence takes a material form in the world, regardless of the socio-economic system.
