  • Radial Nerve: The radial nerve primarily controls the muscles that extend the wrist and fingers, and provides sensation to the back of the hand near the thumb. Compression of the radial nerve typically causes "wrist drop" or numbness on the back of the hand, not the classic symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Ulnar Nerve: The ulnar nerve runs closer to the pinky finger side of the arm and hand. It provides sensation to the pinky finger and half of the ring finger, and controls most of the small muscles within the hand. Compression of the ulnar nerve often occurs at the elbow (cubital tunnel syndrome) or wrist (Guyon's canal syndrome), leading to numbness and tingling in the pinky and ring fingers.
  • Femoral Nerve: The femoral nerve is located in the thigh and primarily controls muscles that extend the knee and provides sensation to the front of the thigh and inner leg.
