GPAT Pharmaceutics carries roughly the same share of marks as Pharmaceutical Chemistry in GPAT syallbus, and it is the section with the most numerical questions. It covers the physical properties of drugs and how a dosage form is made, tested, and delivered. GPAT Pharmacology is the third biggest section in GPAT 2026 syllabus. Focus on how each drug works, not just its name. Questions focus on how a drug acts, what it treats, and its main side effects, so a chart of drug classes helps more than a plain list. This section also includes pathophysiology, human anatomy and physiology, and clinical pharmacy, which link disease to drug choice. GPAT Pharmacognosy has fewer questions than the three big sections, but the questions are usually direct and easy to score. It deals with drugs of natural origin, their active parts, and how herbal products are checked for quality. Beyond the four main sections, GPAT 2026 has a smaller set of questions from other subjects. These are often the easiest to score if you have prepared them. Ques: Is the GPAT 2026 syllabus the same as my B.Pharm degree syllabus?
Ans: The subject and knowledge areas are the same, since GPAT is based on the B.Pharm Course Regulations, 2024. The difference is that GPAT draws selectively from across all four years in one objective paper, so a topic you studied lightly in a single semester can still appear. Cover the whole B.Pharm scope, not only the subjects from your final year.
Ques: Which GPAT 2026 subjects have numerical or calculation-based questions?
Ans: Numerical questions come mostly from Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Physical Pharmacy, and parts of Pharmaceutical Analysis and Physical Chemistry. Formulas for bioavailability, dissolution, isotonicity, and kinetics come up most. There is no calculator in the exam, so practise these by hand while covering the syllabus.
Ques: Do lateral-entry B.Pharm students follow a different GPAT syllabus?
Ans: No. Lateral-entry candidates who hold a valid B.Pharm degree sit the same GPAT with the same syllabus and the same paper. The entry route into the degree does not change the subject areas tested, so the preparation plan is identical.
Ques: Can I leave out the low-weightage subjects in the GPAT syllabus?
Ans: It is risky. Subjects like Microbiology, Jurisprudence, and Pharmaceutical Management carry fewer questions, but those questions are usually direct and easy to score. GPAT has negative marking, so the marks you skip here can matter more than a few hard questions in the big sections. Cover them at least once.
Ques: Does the GPAT syllabus change every year?
Ans: It has stayed stable because it is tied to the B.Pharm Course Regulations rather than a yearly GPAT notification. A change would only follow a revision of the B.Pharm regulations by the Pharmacy Council of India, not an annual update, so the subject areas remain largely the same each year.
