Registration for this cycle is closed. Results have been declared, and counselling registration is underway through July 9, 2026.

IISER IAT 2026 Application Fee by Category

IISER IAT 2026's fee is straightforward compared to most entrance exams, with two tiers and a specific provision for Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandits alongside the standard reserved-category concession.

Payment was accepted through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI via the ICICI Bank payment gateway. Once paid, the fee was not refunded.

IISER Campus Preferences and the Mathematics Requirement

IISER's application form asks candidates to rank campus and programme preferences during registration, and the number of choices available depends on whether Mathematics was taken at the Class 12 level.

A candidate who studied Mathematics in Class 12 could list up to 9 preferences, covering all seven IISERs and the programmes at IISc Bengaluru and IIT Madras that require Mathematics. A candidate without Mathematics could list up to 7 preferences, since the B.Tech programmes at IISER Bhopal (Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering) and the routes through IISc Bengaluru and IIT Madras require it. This distinction appears during the form itself and cannot be changed after submission, so knowing which category you fall into before starting is worth the check.

How to Register for IISER IAT 2026 Online

IISER IAT 2026's registration followed a step-by-step online process at iiseradmission.in. Keep your Class 12 mark sheet (or a signed declaration if results are pending) and a recent photograph ready before starting.

• Go to iiseradmission.in and click Register Here below the login section.
• Enter your name, date of birth, gender, email address, and mobile number.
• Generate and verify the OTP sent to your mobile and email.
• Receive your User ID and password on the registered mobile and email.
• Log in and indicate whether you had Mathematics at the Class 12 level.
• Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, and category information.
• Select and rank your campus and programme preferences (up to 9 with Math, up to 7 without).
• Upload your photograph (45 mm by 35 mm, 80 to 200 KB, JPEG), signature, Class 12 mark sheet (or declaration form), and any category or domicile certificate.
• Pay the application fee through the ICICI Bank payment gateway.
• Download and save the confirmation page.

Documents Required for IISER IAT 2026 Registration

IISER asked for more uploads at the registration stage than most entrance exams, since academic eligibility and category claims are partially verified during the form itself rather than only at counselling.

Candidates whose Class 12 results were pending at the time of registration could upload a signed declaration form and were required to upload the actual mark sheet by July 2, 2026, before counselling.

IISER Application Form Correction Window 2026

IISER IAT 2026's correction facility ran from April 16 to 18, a three-day window immediately after the registration deadline.

Editable items included photograph, category certificate, Class 12 mark sheet, campus preferences, and personal details. Name, date of birth, and registered email or mobile could not be changed. No additional fee was charged. Once the window closed on April 18, no further changes were accepted through any channel, and the admit card was generated from whatever details were on file at that point.

IISER IAT Now the Only Admission Channel from 2026

IISER discontinued its JEE Advanced and KVPY admission channels starting from the 2024-25 cycle, and 2026 was the second year where IAT was the sole pathway into all participating institutes.

In earlier years, a candidate could gain an IISER seat through three separate routes: IAT, JEE Advanced, or KVPY. KVPY was discontinued first, and the JEE Advanced channel was dropped by the IISERs themselves. From 2026, a candidate who wants admission to any of the seven IISERs, IISc Bengaluru (for BS programmes), IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IACS Kolkata, or IIEST Shibpur through this process must appear for IAT. JEE Advanced remains a separate exam for IIT admission but no longer feeds into IISER's own seat allotment.

Common IISER IAT 2026 Registration Mistakes

IISER IAT 2026's relatively short registration window and the campus-preference mechanic drove most of the common errors.

• Not checking whether Mathematics was taken at the Class 12 level before starting the form, since this determines whether 9 or 7 campus preferences are available and cannot be changed after submission.
• Uploading a photograph that does not meet the 45 mm by 35 mm dimension or the 80 to 200 KB size range, which the portal rejects.
• Leaving the signed declaration form un-uploaded for candidates whose Class 12 results were pending, which blocks the application from completing.
• Ranking campus preferences without researching which IISERs offer the intended major, since not all seven IISERs offer every programme.
• Assuming the JEE Advanced score still qualifies for IISER admission, when IAT is now the only channel.
