VITEEE 2026 registration opened on October 24, 2025 and closed on April 12, 2026 after VIT extended the original March 31 deadline by nearly two weeks. Over 2 lakh candidates register for VITEEE each year to compete for BTech seats across VIT's four campuses at Vellore, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, and Bhopal. A single application form at Rs 1,350 covers all four campuses, and candidates do not pick a campus or branch until counselling. This year, VIT also introduced negative marking for the first time. Since the registration window and slot booking are both over, VITEEE 2026 results have been declared and phase-wise counselling for BTech admissions is underway.

How to Register for VITEEE 2026 on viteee.vit.ac.in

VIT runs a single-step online application for all its BTech entrance exam candidates. There is no separate slot for NRI or international applicants at the form stage, though they pay a different fee. The entire process, from account creation to confirmation page download, takes about 15 to 20 minutes if documents are ready. VIT does not accept any offline or postal applications.

  • Step 1: Open viteee.vit.ac.in and click 'Register'. Enter your name, mobile number, date of birth, gender, and email address.
  • Step 2: An OTP is sent to the mobile number. After verification, VIT emails a password to the registered email. Save this password, as it is needed for every future login including slot booking and admit card download.
  • Step 3: Log in with the email and password. The application dashboard opens.
  • Step 4: Fill in personal details (address, parent or guardian information, nationality) and academic details (board, year of passing, subjects, marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology).
  • Step 5: Select your preferred test city. VIT offers centres across India. The final exam centre within that city is assigned during slot booking.
  • Step 6: Pay the application fee of Rs 1,350 using net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI. The fee is the same for all Indian categories and is non-refundable.
  • Step 7: Upload a recent passport-size colour photograph (JPEG, 10 KB to 200 KB, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) and a signature scan (JPEG, within the size limits shown on the portal).
  • Step 8: Review all details on the preview screen. VIT does not offer a formal correction window after submission, so every field must be checked before clicking Submit.
  • Step 9: Submit the form. An application number is generated. Download and print the filled form along with the payment e-receipt.

VIT sends a confirmation to the registered email and mobile after successful submission. Candidates who face issues during registration can raise a query through the 'Need Help' section on the application dashboard.

VITEEE 2026 Application Fee

VIT charges a flat fee for all Indian applicants regardless of category. There is no fee concession for SC, ST, or OBC candidates at the application stage. PwD candidates also pay the same amount. The fee structure for VITEEE 2026 is as follows.

Candidate TypeApplication Fee
Indian Nationals (all categories)Rs 1,350 (inclusive of GST)
NRI / International / OCI ApplicantsUSD 90 (approximately Rs 7,500)

Payment is accepted only online through net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI. No demand draft, e-challan, or cash mode is available. The fee is non-refundable even if the candidate does not appear for the exam or misses slot booking.

VITEEE 2026 Application and Exam Schedule

VIT kept the VITEEE registration window open for nearly six months, from late October 2025 to mid-April 2026. This is one of the longest application windows among private engineering entrance exams in India. Slot booking, which determines the actual exam date and time for each candidate, was available for just three days in mid-April.

VITEEE 2026 Photograph and Signature Upload Specifications

VIT rejects applications where the uploaded photo or signature does not meet the required format. The same photograph is printed on the admit card and must match the candidate's appearance at the exam centre, so it has to be recent. Below are the specifications from VIT's official brochure.

ItemSpecificationNotes
PhotographJPEG / JPG, 10 KB to 200 KB, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cmRecent, colour, passport-size. Same photo must be carried to the exam centre.
SignatureJPEG / JPG, within the size limit shown on portalScanned copy of the candidate's signature on white paper.

If the uploaded photo or signature is blurred, cropped incorrectly, or in a format other than JPEG, the portal may accept it at submission but VIT can reject the application during verification. Candidates can re-upload before submitting the form but not after.

Documents Required for VITEEE 2026 Registration

VITEEE registration asks for fewer uploaded documents than many other entrance exams. Candidates do not upload mark sheets or certificates during the application itself. Those are verified later during counselling and campus reporting. At the application stage, only the photograph and signature scans are uploaded. However, candidates need several documents on hand to fill in the form accurately.

  • Class 10 mark sheet or certificate (for date of birth and name spelling).
  • Class 12 mark sheet or hall ticket (for board name, year of passing, and subject-wise marks if results are declared).
  • Category certificate (SC/ST, if applicable, for eligibility check, though the fee does not change).
  • Scanned passport-size colour photograph (as per the specs above).
  • Scanned signature on white paper (as per the specs above).
  • Credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI details for fee payment.

Physical copies of all certificates are needed later at counselling and campus reporting. Keep them safe even after submitting the online form.

VITEEE 2026 Slot Booking and Admit Card

Slot booking is the step between registration and the exam where candidates pick their test date, shift, and city. VIT runs this through the Online Test Booking System (OTBS) at viteee.vit.ac.in. For 2026, the slot booking window was open from April 17 (6:00 PM) to April 19 (5:00 PM), a total of about 47 hours. Slots are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis, so candidates who log in early get more date and time choices.

  • Log in to OTBS using the application number and password received during registration.
  • Choose a test date (from April 28 to May 3) and a shift (morning or afternoon, as available).
  • Confirm the slot. Once confirmed, it cannot be changed.
  • The admit card becomes available for download 48 hours before the booked exam date.

Candidates who missed the slot booking window did not lose their registration. VIT auto-assigned a slot to such candidates based on available seats, but those candidates had no control over the date or shift. The admit card was then generated based on the auto-assigned slot.

VITEEE 2026 Application Form Correction Policy

VIT does not offer a formal correction window after submission of the application form. This is different from many government entrance exams that open a separate editing period. Once a candidate clicks Submit, fields like name, date of birth, academic marks, and test city are locked. The only option for candidates who spot an error after submission is to raise a service request through the 'Need Help' section on the application dashboard. VIT reviews such requests on a case-by-case basis, and there is no guarantee the change will be made.

Because of this policy, VIT's own brochure emphasizes reviewing every field carefully before final submission. Candidates should compare the name, date of birth, and academic details against their Class 10 certificate before clicking Submit, since any mismatch found during counselling or campus reporting can delay or cancel admission.

One VITEEE Application Covers All VIT Campuses

Unlike some university entrance exams that need separate applications for each campus, a single VITEEE form covers BTech admission across all four VIT campuses. Candidates do not select a campus or branch at the application stage. That choice happens during online counselling after the results are out, based on the All India Rank (AIR) and available seats.

This means a candidate with one registration and one Rs 1,350 fee payment is automatically considered for VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP (Amaravati), and VIT Bhopal. The rank-based fee category system (Category 1 through Category 5) also applies equally across campuses, with lower categories offering lower tuition fees for higher-ranked candidates.

What Happens After VITEEE 2026 Registration

Once the form is submitted, the next milestone is slot booking. After the exam, VIT declares results as an All India Rank without publishing raw marks. Candidates then register for counselling, fill campus and branch preferences, and receive seat allotment in phases. The counselling fee and tuition deposit are separate from the application fee and are paid only after a seat is offered. VIT does not release an official answer key for VITEEE.

VITEEE Application Form 2026 FAQs

Ques: Can I change my test city after submitting the VITEEE application form?

Ans: No. VIT locks the test city at the time of form submission, and there is no option to change it afterwards. During slot booking, candidates can only choose a date and shift within the city they selected during registration.

Ques: I missed the VITEEE 2026 slot booking window. Will my application fee be refunded?

Ans: VIT does not refund the application fee under any circumstances, including missed slot booking. Candidates who did not book a slot were auto-assigned a date and shift by VIT based on available seats.

Ques: Do SC or ST candidates get any fee concession on the VITEEE application?

Ans: No. VITEEE charges a flat Rs 1,350 for all Indian applicants regardless of category. The fee concession based on category applies only at the tuition fee stage after counselling, not during registration.

Ques: My payment was deducted twice during VITEEE registration. How do I get a refund?

Ans: VIT auto-reverses duplicate payments within 7 working days. If the excess amount is not returned after that, contact VIT through the 'Need Help' section on the application dashboard with the transaction reference numbers.

Ques: Does VITEEE 2026 have negative marking?

Ans: Yes. VIT introduced negative marking for the first time in 2026. Each correct answer carries 4 marks and each wrong answer deducts 1 mark. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.
