Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is a government body that aims at recruiting applicants for civil services under the state administration of Tamil Nadu. TNPSC conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II) for various posts under Group 1, Group 2 and Group 2A, Group 4.

  • Group 2 - Group 2 are interview posts. For selection, candidates have to pass three tiers- preliminary exam, mains exam and interview.
  • Group 2A - These are non-interview posts. Vacancies under Group 2A are subjected to the written examination.

Earlier scheduled to be conducted on 5th April 2020, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. The admit card for TNPSC Group 1 is yet to be released on the official website of the authority. The admit card for TNPSC is an essential document that the candidates must carry to their examination centre. The admit card for TNPSC can be downloaded from its official website.

Candidates need to log in with their registration ID and password for downloading the admit card. One must keep their call letter secured until the end of the selection procedure. Admit card for different tiers are released separately.

  • Go to the official website of TNPSC.
  • Click on 'Download Hall Ticket ' link.
  • Login by entering your user ID and password.
  • Click on submit.
  • The Hall ticket is displayed. Download and save it.
  • Take out a printout of your admit card.

The admit card for the TNPSC examination contains the personal details of the candidates along with the details of the examination. Given below are the important details that the admit card highlights ;

Different criteria are taken into account while considering the eligibility criteria of the students applying for TNPSC Group 1 examination. They are citizenship, health, education, age limit, knowledge of Tamil etc. Given below is the detailed eligibility criteria for Group 1;

Age limit for TNPSC Group 1

The details concerning the relaxation given to various categories are ;

  • SC/ SC(A) s - 5 years
  • ST - 5 years
  • Backward classes (non - Muslims) - 5 years
  • Backward classes ( Muslim) - 5 years
  • Destitute widows - 5 years

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have completed their graduation with any stream from a recognized university or institution.

Physical Qualification

There are specific physical qualifications that are made for the post of District Officer (fire and rescue) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (category I) ;

District Officer (fire and rescue)

Men -

  • Not less than 165 cm in height
  • Not less than 86cm around the chest
  • Chest expansion must not be less than 5 cm

Women -

  • Not less than 155cm in height
  • Chest measurement not applied to them.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (category I)

Men

  • Not less than 165 cm in height
  • 50kg weight
  • Not less than 89cm round the chest on full inspiration and 84cm(normal)
  • Not less than 5cm chest expansion on full inspiration.

Women

  • Not less than 155cm in height
  • Chest measurement not applied to them.
  • Weight 50kgs not applied to them.
Group 1 Details

TNPSC Group 1 - Exam Details (Prelims, Mains and Interview)

The TNPSC Group 1 exam has three levels. The first stage is the Prelims exam and it is compulsory for the student to appear and qualify this stage. It is an objective paper with 300 marks. The second stage is Mains which is subjective in nature and carries a total of 850 marks. The third stage consists of a personal interview and has a weightage of 100 marks.
