SSC Stenographer Examination is conducted by SSC every year to recruit eligible candidates for Grade C and D stenographer from across the country. SSC Stenographer Exam is scheduled from May 5-7, 2020. 

  • SSC Stenographer Application Form has been available from September 20, 2019 and will be available till October 18, 2019 on the official website.
  •  The form can be filled online only although the payment of the fee could be done offline as well as online.
  • The online payment of fee can be done by Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card and offline using e-challan.

Pre Requisites for Application Process 2020

It is very important for all the appearing candidates to be handy with all the requisites while filling the application form. How to Apply for SSC Stenographer 2020?

The application procedure of SSC Stenographer comprise of three stages:

  1. New Registration
  2. Form Filling
  3. Post Preference

Step 1- Registration Process

This is the first step to apply for SSC Stenographer 2020. Candidates are needed to fill the registration part which is available on the official website i.e. ssconline.nic.in.

New Registration

On clicking the “Registration” button a window appears with the registration form.

  • Candidates can register in the Staff Selection Commission website, www.ssc.nic.in
  • Home page will contain three columns, one for registration and edit options, one for details of the exam and application form and one for printing the application and admit card. 
  • Candidates have to go to the New Registration Column and click on Register option
  • A new page will open and the details for registration will be displayed 
  • Page will contain details like Name, Father’s Name, Secondary Board Exam Roll number, Date of Birth and Gender 
  • Candidates might have to fill all information twice for verification process 
  • Enter the Captcha and click enter 

Form Filling

  • Personal details form will contain questions like Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender
  • Enter the details as per the 10th certificate. The name, father’s name and mother’s name should be as per the government certificates
  • The date of birth should be as the 10th 
  • Basic details form will have questions like Aadhar Card Number, Category, Religion, Nationality, Disability details (if any) and Certificate Number
  • Contact Details Form will contain questions like Address, State, Pincode, Mobile Number and Email 
  • Click on the submit option 
  • Candidates should upload their photograph and signature 
  • Photograph should be more than 20 KB and the signature should be more than 50 KB 
  • Candidates should complete all mandatory colums to go and complete the registration process 
  • Examination centre and code details will be available in the prospectus. We would strongly advise you select a centre near your location for accessibility
  • Basic details will include details like Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Nationality
  • Staff selection commission allow fees exemption and age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen, Physically Handicapped Candidates

Post Preference 

  • The next column will ask details about preference for posts 
  • The details and codes of the post will be available in the exam notification 
  • Enter qualification details in the ascending order, starting from the highest degree
  • Work experience should be entered from recent to last order. Proper experience and reliving letter is mandatory for the work to be considered valid 
  • Contact details should be your permanent address and valid contact details

SSC Stenographer 2019 Application Form Details

How to Retrieve Registration Number/Password?

In case, a candidate forgets his or her Registration Number or Password, then he or she can retrieve it by following the steps given below:-

  1. A candidate may retrieve his/her Registration number and Password by clicking on “Apply” button provided on this link http://ssconline.nic.in/
  2. On clicking the “Apply” button candidate will be directed to a new window where he/she can retrieve the registration number and password.
  3. In the “Apply Part” there is “Forget Registration or Password” button provided, this button directs to another window “Forget Registration or Password” where the candidate can retrieve his/ her registration/ password by filling few details.
  4. In “Forget Registration or Password” window, a candidate needs to fill the information given below:
  • Date of Birth
  • Name of the candidate
  • Father’s Name
  • Captcha
  1. After filling this information candidate has to click on “Submit” button to retrieve the Registration number or Password.

In case, if the candidate wants to change his/ her password it is possible to do it by following the steps mention below:

  1. To change the password candidate needs to visit the website of SSC by clicking on this link http://ssconline.nic.in/
  2. It will open a new window where a candidate has to click on “Apply” button.
  3. On clicking the “Apply” button candidate will be directed to a page with three parts:
  • Registration part
  • Instruction to Candidate part
  • Apply part

A candidate has to go on “Apply part” and click on “Change Password” button.

  1. It will open a new page “Change Password” where it is required to fill the following details:
  • Date of Birth

Ques. What is the work profile of SSC Stenographer C? 

Ans. Staff Selection Commission hires Stenographers in multiple locations under the aegis of the Government of India. These posts are bifurcated into two grades i.e. Grade C and Grade D. The nature of a Stenographer’s job varies because it is dependent on their posting.

Ans. Stenographers Grade D candidates are divided into two groups – Group X and Group Y.

Ques. Is there an interview round for the SSC Stenographer examination? 

Ans. No, at present there is no interview round in the SSC Stenographer examination. There are two rounds that have been created for clearance of the examination. The first phase is the CBE (Computer Based Examination) and the second phase is the Stenography Skill Test. There is no provision for an interview.
