Phase-I and Phase-II are online written exams to test the candidates’ knowledge, whereas Phase-III or the final stage is Interview i.e. a face-to-face personality test to judge the candidates’ personality and psyche.

SEBI Selection Procedure: Weightage

SEBI Grade A Selection procedure is based on 3 major stages:

SEBI Selection Process: Phase-I

SEBI Phase-I is the entry-level exam. An online exam consisting of Multiple Choice questions for 200 marks will be conducted to test the candidates’ knowledge and skills. The application procedures are open to apply for SEBI Grade A 2020 Phase-I till July 31, 2020. There are 2 papers consisting of 100 marks each. The Paper-I is for all candidates despite their variations in streams and subjects.

Aggregate Cut off - - 40%
  • There will be negative marking for wrong answers.
  • In the case of Phase-I, ¼ of the marks assigned to each question will be deducted for wrong answers.
  • Only the candidates who qualify the cutoff of Phase-I will be eligible to attempt Phase-II of SEBI Grade A.
  • Paper-II will be conducted in various shifts for the candidates applying in multiple streams, the timings of which will be intimated in the Hall Ticket.

SEBI Selection Process: Phase-II

Only the candidates who qualify the Phase-I of SEBI Grade A 2020, will have the chance to attempt the Phase-II. After the declaration of the results of Phase-I, a list of candidates’ names will be released who are eligible for Phase-II.

The Eligible candidates will be able to download a Call Letter on SEBI Official Website. Without the Admit Card/ Call Letter, the candidate will not be allowed to enter. The Exam Centre will also be mentioned in the Call Letter. Know-How to download the Admit Card of SEBI Grade A 2020

Aggregate Cut off - - 40% -
  • Paper-II will be conducted in various shifts for the candidates applying in multiple streams, the timings of which will be intimated in the Hall Ticket.
  • There is a provision of negative marking of 1/4th for Paper 2 in Phase II (except IT stream for).
  • An aggregate mark of 40 % is required to score in Phase-II to qualify.
  • Candidates who will qualify the Phase II will only be called for the final stage of Interview.
  • The list of those selected candidates for the Interview will be made available on SEBI website.

SEBI Selection Process: Interview

Only the shortlisted candidates will be called for the third state of the selection process - SEBI Grade A 2020 interview. Here are some invariable facts about the stage of Interview that will provide the applicants with information of the final state:

  • The application fee shall not be refunded to the candidates if they are not shortlisted for the interview.
  • The candidate can opt for an interview either in Hindi or English.
  • Weightage of marks obtained in Phase II will be 85%, while marks obtained in interview shall be given a weight of 15%.
  • On fulfilling the criteria of the minimum cutoff marks in each subject, candidates will be shortlisted based on Group Performance as decided by SEBI.
  • List of candidates shortlisted for interview will be made available on SEBI Official website.
  • Only the shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The application fee shall not be refunded to the candidates not shortlisted for the interview.
  • SEBI reserves the right to modify the selection procedure if deemed fit.

Ques. Will the SEBI exam be postponed?

Ans. The SEBI exam was postponed due to the coronavirus. While the Phase 1 exam is rescheduled to July 4th, the Phase 2 exam is slated for August 23. However, these dates are postponed until July 31, 2020. The last date of application is July 31, 2020.

Ques. Is there any change in the Exam Pattern for SEBI Grade A 2020 Exam?
