NTSE Results 2020 for Stage 1 has been declared by the States/ UTs on February 27, 2020, and for Stage 2 the scores will be announced in June 2020 by NCERT. The qualifying scheme for both the stages are similar i.e.for General/ OBC: 40% marks and for SC/ ST/ PwD: 32% marks.

Candidates who will successfully clear stage 1 are eligible to apply for stage 2 which is conducted in May. Nearly 2 lakh candidates apply for NTSE every year. However, only 550 candidates (50 exclusively for SC/ ST candidates) get the scholarships. Read about NTSE Scholarship

About NTSE Results (Stage 1 and Stage 2)

The results for NTSE is declared separately for Stage 1 (State Level Exam) and Stage 2 (National Level Exam).

Stage 1: State Level Examination

  • Each state/ UTs conducts its own exam. Check NTSE Exam Pattern
  • This exam is primarily used to recommend a given no. of candidates for the 2nd level test, conducted by NCERT. 
  • The State/Union Territory will prepare a merit list of candidates ensuring the minimum qualifying marks in both the tests separately.

The results are displayed online on the official website of respective states and Union territories. Steps to check NTSE results:-

Step 3: Enter your login credentials such as roll number and date of birth

Step 4: Your OMR sheet will be displayed on the screen

NTSE 2020 Qualifying Criteria

  1. qualifying criteria for all papers and subjects are different in NTSE exam. Candidates can check the minimum marks required to clear NTSE exam as per the category they fall in.

Other Facts Related to NTSE Result (Stage 1)

  • The marks of the State level Examination are not added to the National Level Examination for the award of scholarship.
  • No correspondence will be entertained by the NCERT with regard to first level examination conducted by the State/UT.
  • The candidate having any query/ complaint/ clarification with regard to the State Level Examination shall have to correspond only with the state examination agencies.

Stage 2: National Level Examination

This stage is also known as NTSE Result for Final Stage, conducted by NCERT. There is no fee of any kind for appearing in this exam. Check NTSE Eligibility

  • The scoring of OMR sheets for both the MAT and the SAT is done through the computer.
  • All possible precautions are taken and necessary checks applied while processing the result to ensure zero error results.
  • The final award is declared on the basis of combined scores of MAT and SAT.
  • Only the selected candidates shall be informed by registered letter and through NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in. 
  • The scholarship provided is of All India Level and there is no state quota in this. 
  • Along with the individual results, NCERT also published cut off scores for NTSE Stage II exam.
Note: In case of any discrepancies in NTSE result, immediately report the same via mail to ntsexam.ncert@gov.in (till 5.30 pm). NCERT will declare the final result after reviewing the requests and addressing the discrepancies, if any.

NTSE Disbursement of Scholarship

Scholarships will be awarded to students selected on the basis of final merit list once stage 2 result of NTSE is announced. NTSE qualifiers will be issued an award letter, certificate of merit and details of the disbursement of scholarship in due time by the division.

  • They have to submit a Claim Bill every year as long as they want the academic scholarship.
  • This document will contain details about
    • Student’s school/ college,
    • Course they have opted for along with the various subjects and total marks secured in the particular year.
    • An acceptance undertaking
    • Character certificate to be filled by the school principal
    • Claim bill proforma for payment of scholarship asking details – bank account and advance receipt
    • Annual Progress Report
  • Aspirants will receive the scholarship account by the online mode.
  • They must score a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in order to be awarded the scholarship.
  • If they fail to obtain the minimum marks then scholarship for that year will be forfeited.
  • Aspirants will be rendered ineligible for scholarship payment if they fail to score the minimum aggregate for 2 consecutive or non-consecutive years.

About 1000 students will be granted NTSE scholarships every year. The amount of scholarship will vary according to the academic qualifications of students.

NTSE Expected Cut off

NCERT will release cut offs for both Stages varying category wise. The cut off is determined considering various factors such as difficulty level of the exam, number of candidates etc. Candidates can check below the expected cut off for NTSE 2020 Exam

The final list will be declared online, category-wise in the following order:

  1. General
  2. Scheduled Castes
  3. Scheduled Tribes
  4. Minimum Qualifying Marks and Cut Off for different papers (category wise)

Candidates shall receive an award letter, certificate of merit and details of the disbursement of scholarship in due time by the division.


NTSE Result 2020 FAQs

Ques. Will my scorecard will be sent to my home address?

Ans. No, candidates can only check their results online. No scorecard will be sent via other modes.

Ques. What are the basis for the merit list you prepare?

Ans. NTSE Merit List for all the stages is purely based on merit. All candidates who clear the exam and secure the set cut off marks, will proceed on to the next stage. Candidates clearing stage 2 will be granted scholarships.

Ques. Can you explain the reservation policy in NTSE 2020?

Ans. In NTSE Exam, NCERT follows the government norms of reservation i.e.

Ques. Is there any state quota applicable in NTSE?

Ans. In first round, there is a state quota in STSE (State Talent Secondary Examination). Candidates who will qualify STSE will be eligible to apply for the next round i.e. NTSE

Ans. About 1000 scholarships are awarded every year through NTSE. Candidates will be allocated scholarships on the basis of final result only.

Ques. Is there any provision for rechecking or re-evaluation in NTSE exam?

Ans. Along with NTSE result, the authorities also releases candidate’s filled in OMR sheet. Candidates can check it online by entering login id and password.

Ques. I belong to Odisha state, I want to know the result date for Stage 1?

Ans. Stage 1 result will be declared in the month of January on the official website.

Ques. For how long will the successful candidates be getting a scholarship?

Ans. The awardees studying Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Commerce, Vocational courses will get a scholarship up to Ph.D. level whereas students pursuing professional courses in Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Management, and Law are will get a scholarship up to second-degree level.

Ques. Does NTSE have a provision of reservation for physically challenged students?

Ans: Yes, there is a provision for 3% reservation for physically challenged students.

Hi Aryan, Registration process will begin from Second week of September 2018. Candidates can fill application form through both the online and offline modes. Application form will be distributed separately by different states. Last date of application submission also varies from state to state.

Candidates can find below the steps to check the result of NTSE 2018:

  1. Login onto the official website or click on the direct link provided below soon after the declaration of the result.
  2. Enter the Required Credentials i.e. roll number and the date of birth in mm/dd/yy format.
  3. Type the captcha code shown on the right-hand side and hit ‘submit’. The NTSE Result 2018 will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Download and take a printout of the result and save a copy for future reference.
