UPSC Prelims 2020: Special Railway and Metro Services for candidates in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru

Mumbai: The Ministry of Railways is providing special services to students registered for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on October 3 and October 4. 

In accordance with the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railways, UPSC Prelims 2020 candidates will be escorted to their exam centers/destinations by special services provided by Mumbai Suburban Railway Community on examination dates. 

Students must carry their student card/ID card and examination letter to use the special services provided by the railway authority. 

CPRO of Western Railways said, "On UPSC Secretary’s request, permission granted by Railways Ministry to UPSC candidates and their escorts for travel by special services over Mumbai Suburban railway network on 3 and 4 October. Candidates to use the exam call letter and I-card for entry at the station".

The Union Public Service Commission Examination (UPSC) for Civil Services (Preliminary) was scheduled to be conducted on October 4 in the country.

Delhi Metro to start services for UPSC candidates from 6 am on October 4

Delhi: The Delhi Metro will start its special services for candidates traveling to appear for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Preliminary Examination on October 4. The services will begin from 06:00 am on all lines and stations to help students reach their examination centers with ease. 

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted on October 4, "To facilitate students for the UPSC examinations, Delhi Metro services will begin at 6 AM from terminal stations of all lines on 4th October".

The UPSC Civil Services preliminary 2020 examination was earlier scheduled to be held on May 31, 2020. But due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country, the examination was later postponed. UPSC Prelims examination is conducted at 2,569 centers across 72 cities in the country on October 4.

In a statement on September 20, The DMRC stated that the regular services starting from 08:00 am on phase three sections will continue on Sundays as per the earlier timelines.

The Metro Services in Delhi have been put on hold since the massive outbreak of COVID-19 in March. Reopening of Metro services in the state has been done with extra care and precautions. 

Metro stations are using closed token counters, limited entry, thermal scanners, and other precautions to prevent coronavirus infection. The DMRC of Delhi has made additional 1000 official staff members available on metro lines to guide passengers as per the norm of metro travel.

Special train from Hubballi Begins from October 3 to Bengaluru for UPSC Candidates

Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) is operating a special train for UPSC Civil Service Examination from Hubballi to Bengaluru to ensure the smooth traveling of candidates. 

The railway services of Bengaluru have been put on hold since March 25 due to the coronavirus spread and lockdown restrictions. Railway authority decided to begin the special train for UPSC students due to the cancellation of regular railway services. 

The special train (07391) will depart from Hubballi at 05:00 pm on October 3 and will arrive at Yevantpur in Bangalore at 06:45 am on October 4. These special train services are arranged for Union Public Service Commission Preliminary Examination students. 

The returning train (07392) will begin its journey from Bengaluru at 08:00 pm on October 4 and will reach its destination Hubballi at 08:45 am on October 5.
