UPSC Prelims 2020: Special COVID-19 Arrangements at IAS Exam Centres

UPSC prelims exam 2020 is all set to begin on October 4, 2020, across the country. The civil services 2020 exam was held in the Northern and Eastern states of the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the prevailing flood conditions. 

Earlier, the UPSC Prelims 2020 was held in two sessions that are morning and afternoon shifts. The guidelines have been released regarding social distancing and personal hygiene to be followed by candidates at the exam centers.

The guidelines read, “Candidates need to carry their hand sanitizer in transparent bottles. Besides above, candidates have to follow COVID-19 norms of ‘social distancing’ and ‘personal hygiene’ inside the Examination Halls/Rooms and on the premises of the Venue.”

The UPSC 2020 admit card was released for the candidates appearing for the exam by UPSC. The notice also mentions that the authority has made wearing masks compulsory for the prelims examination. “Candidates without mask/ face cover will not be allowed entry into the venue.”

After the first session, all the UPSC examination halls will be sanitized. Due to this, the second session of the UPSC 2020 prelims exam will begin today at 2.30 PM.

During the exam, candidates were abiding by the instructions given to them by UPSC. There was a strict police arrangement to implement social distancing norms. The arrangements made at the UPSC exam center satisfied most of the guardians, keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation.

A total of 72 centers and 2,500 sub-centers are set up for the CS (Prelims) exam. Over 10 lakh candidates have registered for the examination this year.

Furthermore, UPSC has directed the Chief Secretaries of all the states to implement the guidelines released for the effective conduct of the UPSC prelims exam this year. The UPSC ensured in its affidavits submitted to the Supreme Court of India.

This states that all the state has been provided directions to make public transports operative to its optimum level to conduct the UPSC IAS 2020 prelims exam successfully.
